My sister teaches foreign students English. She has a lot of Asian students in her classes since she is based in New Zealand.

One of her Japanese students had just recently arrived in the town and was looking for a house to rent. My sister asked him how he was settling in. His answer: “Everything not so good. I like new town but I google no house.”

After much confusion and deciphering – my sister explained…you do not ‘google’ for a house to live in, you ’search’ or ‘find’ one.

Main Entry: goo·gle
Pronunciation: 'gü-g&l
Function: verb
Usage: often capitalized
1 : To look or inquire carefully <he/she googled all over the house for the cillit bang stain remover>
2 : To make painstaking investigation or examination <what in googles name are we trying to find here>
